Front panel buttons & Controls
Button Marking | Meaning | Button Function | Other relevant button actions |
RIT and RITX | Receive Incremental Tuning Off | Returns the Receive and Transmit frequencies to the Main Tune frequency. The Incremental frequency remains the same. When RITX is displayed the RIT frequency can still be altered, but is not in use until one of the other RIT functions below is selected. | Clear resets the Incremental to zero |
IRT | Incremental Receive Transmit | This adds or subtracts the selected Incremental frequency displayed from the Receiver Frequency displayed. Note, when now changing the RIT frequency the Receiver Frequency will also change. When going to transmit this Incremental frequewncy is removed from the main frequency.
ITT | Incremental Transmit Transmit | This adds or subtracts the selected Incremental frequency displayed from the Transmit Frequency on the main tuning. In receive the Incremental frequency will not change the main frequency displayed, but will during transmit.
IRTT | Incremental Receive & Transmit Transmit | This adds or subtracts the selected Incremental frequency displayed from BOTH Receive and Transmit Frequency on the main tuning displayed.
PreAtt | Pre-amplifier / Attenuator / Through Selection | By pressing selects either the Pre-amplifier or Attenuator or Through functionality
Mode | Transceiver operating mode | By pressing selects either USB, LSB, CW-Wide (SSB filter) or CW-Narrow (Narrow CW filter)
< Band & Band > | Band selection down or up | Move up or down bands. Note: A function exists in the FUNC (Functions) menu to select the way band changes between in either CW or SSB or both CW and SSB segments. For example, for a CW only operator only the CW segments of the bands will be cycled through… | See Functions elsewhere |
< Mem & Mem > | Memory selection down or up | Move up or down in memory. Currently there are 99 + 9different memories. (Many more are possible). NOTE: Permanent Memory number 1 is the switch on band and frequency.
VFO > Mem | Program Memory | Programs the VFO frequency on the main tuning to the to Memory selected / displayed. | A double press is needed to confirm with a warning message after the first press |
Mem > VFO | Memory Recall | Recalls the Memory selected / displayed to the main tuning frequency | A double press is needed to confirm with a warning message after the first press |
Mem T/P | Select Temporary or Permanent Memory banks | There are two types of memory. Temporary and Permanent each with 99 memories. Temporary memories are useful for scanning bands for DX and saving them to come back to later, say when there is less QRM or QSB. Temporary memories are lost when the set is powered down. Permanent memories are favourites and saved over power down. | Set / Clear |
Set | Set / Commit a function or memory etc. | The set feature is used in many functions to set the feature.
Clear | Clear a function or memory etc. | The clear feature is used in many functions to clear / reset the feature.
IFW/IFN, Keyer & Linear | If Wide, IF Narrow, CW Keyer and Linear Delay features | This button selects three different features: 1. Adjustment of the Crystal filter centre frequency on receive (only). IFW or IFN will be displayes and changes depending on the Mode selected. This is used to reject close in QRM from breaching the filter skirt. 2. The Keyer Function selects the iambic CW keyer speed from 1 upwards. When set to ) the key acts as a manual CW key (for as lon as it is pressed) 3. The Linear Function selects the Linear Amplifier internal relay delay: 0 mS=off, or Full Break In CW. Next are selections of 100nS to 1000mS steps for Semi Break in CW. This feature works in both SSB and CW to delay a Linear being de-keyed for a time after going to receive. | Set / Clear |
SPOT | Net on CW | By pressing this button OnAir (Actual power from the transmitter) is disabled, allowing the tuned frequency to be ‘netted’ to the received CW station’s actual frequency without interfering with other stations. The Sidetone (and therefore tx) is then the same frequency as the Received signal frequency.
Power | Output Power | Output Power adjustment. There is also a maximum power allowed ‘Per Band’ function. See notes elsewhere | Set / Clr |
Func | Function | This Function button cycles through a menu of ‘other’ functions. There is also a another normally hidden menu of ‘Cal Features’ used when setting up the HamPiRadio that once used should not need to be accessed again except for recalibration or maintenance. Current FUNC (Functions) are: 1. Tune Resolution. 10 / 20 / 50 / 100Hz 2. CW only / SSB only / CW + SSB – Bandchange section selection for Band Changa 2. Sidetone Frequency (ON CW TX). 400 / 500 / 600 / 700 / 800 / 900 / 21000 HZ 3. Calfeatures Select. OFF / ON – These Cal Features are described on the Radio Board page, Calibration sections. | See text |
Tune / Lock | Re-enable tuning or Lock Dial | 1. Locks the tuning dial from accidental movement in tune mode. The display changes fro Blue to Grey whenever it is locked. 2. Whenever the Func button is pressed the main tuning dial becomes the Function dial, and the Lock function is automatically applied. Note: To return at any time to tuning, tuning mode this button is pressed again and the display returns to Blue. When going to TX the Lock is applied, and in returning to Receive stays Locked – until this button is pressed. |
